COVID Message to In-Person Registrants

Thank you for making plans to join us in-person for SIIA’s National Conference & Expo next month in Austin. We have missed seeing so many of you!

To see who else is expected to be in Austin, an updated in-person attendee list can be accessed at www.siiaconferences.org.

This year’s event will feature a new format and incorporate specific COVID safety protocols, so we want to take this opportunity to preview what to expect and how to make the most of your conference experience.

First and foremost, we are setting things up to facilitate networking and business meetings. This will include a dedicated networking lounge/exhibit area supplemented by tables/chairs spread out over two large floors of the hotel. Given the extensive amount of space available, this will help you control how much or how little interaction you will have with other attendees.

For those who want to catch some of the educational content while in Austin, you have control over that as well. Join with other SIIA members in designated viewing areas, or view sessions privately via your laptop/electronic device from wherever you are. Watch for instructions on how to access the content closer to the date.

Not only do we think this new format will improve attendee experience generally, this approach also takes COVID transmission risk into consideration by allowing for attendees to participate and engage on their own terms.

More specifically about COVID, provided below are the specific protocols planned for the conference as part of SIIA’s commitment to proactively mitigate potential transmission risk. While we are doing our part as the event organizer, we respectfully ask that you do your part also to ensure the safest possible environment for all attendees.

If you have any reason to believe you are COVID positive or have been exposed, please do not come. Please also carefully consider your attendance plans if you have not been fully vaccinated or do not have natural immunity from a previous infection. Finally, should you feel sick during the event, we ask that you remove yourself immediately from any group setting.

COVID protocols will include:

  • Registration will include reduced touch experience
  • Floorplan layouts for social distancing
  • Food and beverage service will be provided with reduced touch required
  • Hand sanitizing stations and disinfection wipes provided
  • Face coverings will be encouraged and provided if needed
  • Comfort Level indicator on badge
  • COVID rapid tests will be available upon request (taken in privacy of room)
  • Staff will monitor recommendations from health authorities and the state, local, and city officials, and protocols can be altered to meet changes in the standards

Visit https://whattoexpect.marriott.com/ausjw for the hotel’s safety protocols.

We are closely monitoring government mandates and policy changes, Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines and public health advancements. As information pertaining to the virus continues to develop, we will adjust our approach as needed and keep you up to date with new developments to ensure a coordinated effort and a safe environment for all.

We look forward to seeing you in Austin.
